A Legacy of Inspiration

Bill Farkas

While serving in the Army in Hudson, NY, Bill Farkas often explored the wonders of western MA with friends, including regular hikes up Monument Mountain. Upon retiring from U.S. Steel in 1991, Farkas donated to a trio of organizations, including The Trustees, to finance open space preservation in the Berkshires. He became a steadfast supporter of The Trustees, which he once said “has given me so many wonderful memories.” Sadly, Bill passed away earlier this year. The Trustees—along with two other organizations he cared about—were named beneficiaries of his IRA. It is fitting that as a result of his smart planning and legacy gift, Bill’s memory will live on through The Trustees’ work.
